The la Madeleine French Country Cafe location in southwest Fort Worth is celebrating its first anniversary Thursday, but if you want to be a big part of the party, you’d better get there early. Real early.

The bakery/restaurant, in Overtown Park Plaza, will host “Rompre le Pain” — or “breaking bread.” The first 50 customers in line will received fresh-baked la Madeline bread for a year.

Doors open at 6:30 a.m., but we’re told that people have been known to line up as early as 3 a.m. for their shot at the bread supply. Good thing la Madeleine also has good coffee.

If you’re not one of the first 50 customers, you still have a shot at year-long bread — or at gift cards or gift baskets — through giveaways that will take place every half-hour up till 2 p.m. Thursday.

This is happening only at the Overton Park Plaza location, 4626 SW Loop 820 in Fort Worth.
