DUBLIN - If you want to try the new pure-cane sugar soft drinks being offered by Dublin Bottling Works, this weekend is the time.
On Saturday, the bottler, formerly known for Dublin Dr Pepper, is throwing an outdoor birthday celebration in honor of its 121st birthday.
The celebration runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the bottling plant in downtown Dublin, about 80 miles southwest of Fort Worth, and includes free samples of the new drinks, plus the old returnable bottling line cranking up for everyone to see.
For now, the new bottled sodas aren't available in the Metroplex, though you can get fountain drinks at two Dallas eateries.
"I think we're going to move a lot of cases of the new sodas. It couldn't come at a better time," said Jeff Kloster, vice president and general counsel of Dublin Bottling Works.
The Kloster family settled a lawsuit with Dr Pepper in January, which brought an end to Dublin Dr. Pepper. The weekend's celebration served as a rollout for the new line of sodas
