FOREST HILL -- Two 21-year-old women died Thursday after the vehicle they were in left the roadway and hit a signpost, according to authorities.
Mazie Monasco and Auriel Lattin were pronounced dead about 10:45 p.m. in the grassy area of Loop 820, the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website said.
Both Monasco and Lattin died from blunt trauma to the head, according to the medical examiner’s office. Initial reports indicated that both were from Crowley.
Police said the vehicle was traveling in the 3300 block of Southeast Loop 820 when it slammed into a sign girder that spans the freeway. The victims were trapped inside their vehicle on the westbound side of the freeway.
Officers found both women’s bodies inside a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
Police continue to investigate, and Forest Hill police are asking that anyone with any information call 817-531-5278.
