A student on the TWU Denton campus has been diagnosed with active tuberculosis or TB. The student is listed in "good prognosis" and is receiving treatment, according to a statement issued by the university today.
The Denton County Health Department notified the university on March 29 about the case.
On Friday, health department officials visited the Denton campus and identified about 100 people who had close contact with the student and should be screened for TB, according to the university. TWU is sending emails and letters to these people today.
All TWU faculty, staff and students were notified about the situation today on the Pioneer Alert system, email, TWU homepage and social media sites.
