It's no coincidence that Brandon Vaughan's fiancee, Kim Kearns of Richland Hills, describes their first meeting as magical.
"He was magical," Kearns said. "Everything about him I loved. He was the sweetest, nicest guy. He would do anything for anybody. I was 18 and in love."
Now, Vaughan and Kearns, like dozens of other Tarrant County couples, are planning to marry on an auspicious day for a match made in heaven: 11-11-11.
To hear numerologists and others tell it, a boom of good cosmic energy will hit planet Earth that day, making it a great time to tie the knot and, yes, even to live happily ever after. That may be why area justices of the peace say they're up to their eyeballs in 11-11-11 nuptials.

Vaughan, now 31, and Kearns, now 26, will wed Nov. 11 at Southlake Town Square.
"I'm ecstatic," Vaughan said. "The day just happens to be one of the luckiest days we could think of. What better day to start spending the rest of our lives together?"
Triple lucky, said Colette M. McAlester, a psychic in Dallas. "It's going to be a very successful partnership."
The number 11 carries significance with others, too. It is a favorite of blackjack players, a top keno number and a character "master" number in numerology, drawing energies likened to the cosmic sound of infinity.
Christine DeLorey, a numerologist in West Palm Beach, Fla., said the date creates a huge potential for abundance. Added up, as a whole, 11-11-2011 equals eight.
"That is most associated with material and financial gains," DeLorey said. "Even in this unstable and unpredictable economy, the eight energy can help us manifest what we need."
Other gifts are also associated with the galactic combo.
The 11 is a "mirror image" symbol, representing a relationship associated with self-acceptance and authenticity -- "ingredients of any long-term and loving relationship," DeLorey said.
"The 11 energy will help these couples to be themselves, to be real -- and there is such beauty in that."
As there is a yin to every yang, DeLorey warns couples to be careful with being hypersensitive; 11 energy also creates a tendency to be "thin-skinned at times," she said. "They'll need to be aware of that and not let it get out of hand," she said.
But more critical than a lucky set of numbers, she says, is the most important component: "That's love," she said.
Superstition and love aside, Northeast Tarrant County Justice of the Peace Russ Casey says that some Fridays, he has as many as four weddings.
But as of mid-October, he had already booked more than a dozen Nov. 11 weddings.
"11-11-11 -- it's giant," Casey said. "It's big."
"It's kind of cool -- an amazing day to remember."
He hasn't had such a rush to the altar in years, he said.
"7-7-7 was a big year," Casey said. "We did a lot on 8-8-8. 10-10-10 was big. Now 6-6-6? Not so hot."
