The city of Keller is celebrating autumn with two days of fun events, including a 5K for all ages and a kids' triathlon. All runners will receive a T-shirt and medal.
The 5K will begin at Keller Town Hall at 6:15 p.m. Friday, head down the streets and trails of Keller and end back at town hall.
Saturday's triathlon is open to ages 4 to 13. Distances for the swim, bike ride and run are graduated, based on age. Leap Frogs (4-6 age group) will swim 25 yards, bike 1 mile and run 1/3 mile. Road Runners (ages 7-10) will swim 75 yards, bike 2 miles and run 1 mile. Gladiators (ages 11-13) will swim 125 yards, bike 3 miles and run 1 mile. The event will use the Keller Natatorium for swimming, Bear Creek Parkway for bike riding and Keller trails for the run. Participants must register in advance; check-in begins at 7 a.m. Saturday.
These events are in conjunction with Keller's "Rock the Park" festival, which will be 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday. The festival will have live entertainment, including Bowling for Soup at 8 p.m.; a petting zoo; pony rides; bounce houses; vendor booths; children's activities; and more. Blankets or lawn chairs are encouraged for the evening's concert.
