Cold front in the forecast this weekend for North Texas

Temperatures are expected to dip this weekend following a mild cold front that will enter the area Saturday morning.

The front will move in around daybreak Saturday along with northwest winds of up to 10 mph, National Weather Service meteorologist Amber Elliott said.

The winds are expected to move northerly with speeds of up to 20 mph by noon with drier air expected to come later in the afternoon. Temperatures near freezing are expected that night, Elliott said.

The forecast for the rest of the weekend is mostly clear skies with no precipitation, Elliott said.

Friday likely will be mostly sunny with highs in the lower 70s and south winds of up to 15 mph carrying through the night along with scattered clouds and temperatures in the lower 70s.

Saturday's forecast is mostly sunny with highs in the mid 60s and lows in the lower 30s that night.

Sunday is expected to be partly cloudy and cooler with highs in the lower 50s and lows in the upper 20s at night.

The temperatures for Sunday are below normal but Saturday appears to have the average temperatures as it has in the past, Elliott said.
