No rain in North Texas yet, but Friday could bring some wet stuff

North Texans expecting rain this week have been sorely disappointed, but Friday could be a different story.

There's a 30 percent chance of rain overnight Thursday and a 40 percent chance during the day Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.

The chance drops back to 30 percent Friday evening, but the Texas Rangers might as well go ahead and wrap up the American League pennant Wednesday in New York, just in case.

The weekend is expected to be partly to mostly sunny and unseasonably warm. The forecast high on Saturday is in the mid-80s, and Sunday and Monday could see low 80s. The typical high temperature for late October is 75 degrees.

North Texas could use the moisture, if not the heat.

The last measurable amount of rainfall was two-hundredths of an inch on Oct. 11 at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport, the official weather service rainfall reporting site. And that's been all the rain so far this month.

Generally, North Texas gets an average of 4 inches of rain in October, according to the weather service.
