DALLAS — A 2-year-old boy died after being left for hours in a school van Thursday afternoon, according to authorities.
Earlier Thursday, the van’s driver and a monitor picked up 14 children from various locations and took them to four different schools.
Sir Anthony Smith, the child who died, was supposed to be dropped off at the H. H. Banks Learning Center, 2735 Marder Street.
The van arrived at the Banks Learning Center about 9 a.m.

After 2 p.m. the driver and monitor arrived at Paul Dunbar Elementary School, 4200 Metropolitan Ave., to pick up children and take them back home.
A 3-year-old girl entered the 2007 Chevy passenger van and discovered Sir Anthony in the rear of the van unresponsive.
Witnesses removed him and called paramedics, police said. The child was taken to Children’s Medical Center of Dallas where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Detectives were on the scene interviewing witnesses late Thursday. It has not been determined if any arrest will be made, police said.
