Casa Mañana kicks off its season with a family-friendly favorite: The Sound of Music, the classic story of a singing governess, a handsome widower and his seven lively children, comes to the Casa stage this weekend. The Rodgers and Hammerstein hit doesn't feature Julie Andrews -- but the primary cast has plenty of experience on Broadway and in traveling Broadway shows.
If you're a student, school staff or faculty member with a valid ID, you can attend a preview performance Friday for $10. Cast members will stick around for a Q&A with the audience after Friday's show. If you can't be there Friday, $10 student rush tickets will be offered one hour before every performance, unless the show is sold out.
And if feel you must sing along with the well-known music, consider this: An official sing-along performance is set for7 p.m. Sept. 19. See the Casa Mañana website for a complete schedule of performances.
