Cool dishes to put late summer heat on ice

The hotter the summer has gotten, the less we have been able to bear the idea of cooking.

But the soaring thermometer display doesn't need to end thoughts of entertaining at home. As long as you're equipped with cool recipes, you easily can chill over dinner with family and friends.

We asked five local experts -- Israel Voirin, executive chef, Bailey's Prime Plus; Brian Olenjack, chef-owner, Olenjack's Grille; Judy Waitkus, Market Street Dish Cooking School; Mike Jackson, executive chef, Omni Hotel Fort Worth; and Curtis Cheney, chief mixologist, Del Frisco's -- to show us how to produce a clever dish or drink without breaking a sweat.

Eat well and stay cool!
