MANSFIELD — A man suspected of injuring his live-in girlfriend and her two daughters was in the Mansfield jail on Wednesday.
Adam Carroll Palmer, 27, of Mansfield, faces two counts of causing serious bodily injury to a child, and an aggravated assault charge, with total bail set at $450,000, police said.
According to court records, Palmer was allowed deferred adjudication in an injury to a child case that occurred in June 2003, but his probation was revoked in 2008 and he was sentenced to prison.
Police said Palmer had not been out of prison for long when they got a call from a Dallas hospital in connection with an injured 27-year-old woman and her two hurt daughters, ages two and five. The woman suffered serious injuries, the 5-year-old had superficial injuries, and the 2-year-old had a serious head injury, police said.

The woman and the 5-year-old were treated and released from the hospital. The 2-year-old is in critical condition and is being treated at the Dallas hospital, police said.
An investigation after the phone call from the hospital on Monday led detectives to suspect Palmer, and after an interview he was arrested, said Thad Penkala, Mansfield police spokesman.
