Colleyville toddler found in pool dies

A toddler who had been on life support has died after she was found floating in a backyard swimming pool in Colleyville on Monday, Colleyville police and the Tarrant County medical examiner's office reported.

The 20-month-old girl was identified as Caroline Warda, who was pronounced dead at 9:35 a.m. Friday at Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, the medical examiner's office reported.

Caroline's death was ruled an accident by drowning, according to the medical examiner's office.

Colleyville police and emergency crews responded to a 911 call at 11:56 a.m. Monday in the 4700 block of Mill Springs Court in Colleyville.

The girl's grandmother was at the residence baby-sitting the toddler and two other children, said Officer Raymon Cannon, a police spokesman.

The toddler was the youngest of the three, he said.

She was pulled from the pool Monday morning.

Two police officers who arrived at the scene administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation to the toddler until paramedics arrived, Cannon said. Caroline was flown by helicopter ambulance to Cook Children's.

Officials with Child Protective Services also investigated the incident.
