A 2-year-old Cresson girl died Saturday night after a large television toppled on her while she was watching her uncle work on the set.
The TV was on a 3-foot-high stand when it fell on her head and upper body, said Hood County Sheriff Roger Deeds. She died instantly, he added.
The toddler has been identified as Cheyenne Newton.
She was two months away from her third birthday, Deeds said.
Deeds said the uncle was connecting either a video game console or DVD player when the incident occurred.
Cheyenne's parents were not home.
Deeds said he has spoken with the Hood County district attorney's office and Child Protective Services and does not expect charges to be filed against the uncle.
