More than 850 North Texas women- and minority-owned businesses have been included in a guide that the North Texas Super Bowl Committee will promote to contracting entities beginning this summer, host committee officials said Thursday.
The guide -- which lists businesses that have registered, been certified, and offer products or services that fit Super Bowl needs -- is online at www.northtexassuperbowl.com. A print version is also planned.
The companies were among more than 3,000 businesses that put themselves into the "emerging business" database.
Many were excluded for various reasons such as not being independently certified as being women or minority owned, said Robbie Douglas, the host committee's director of business development.

The host committee has set an internal goal of a minimum 15 percent for the contracts it awards, Douglas said.
