A 4-year-old Arlington boy who nearly drowned after falling into a backyard hot tub is home recovering after a medical procedure administered at Cook Children's Medical Center, his grandfather said Monday.
Evan Martin was taken to Cook's on June 13 after he was found at the bottom of a whirlpool hot tub adjacent to the pool at a south Arlington home.
He underwent therapeutic hypothermia, a procedure where his body was cooled and he was put into a coma to reduce brain swelling, said Gregg Graham, Evan's grandfather. He was back to normal by last weekend, Graham said.
Evan, his older brothers and their dad were visiting the home in the 300 block of Westbrook Drive when the accident occurred, police said.

Evan's father performed CPR before the boy was taken by ambulance to Cook Children's in Fort Worth. It is unclear how long he had been under water.
