If you're ready to wiggle your toes in the sand, head down to Galveston for what is billed as the world's largest sand-castle competition Saturday. The American Institute of Architects' annual competition features architects, designers, engineers and contractors crafting their creations on East Beach. Sixty-five teams are signed up this year, and more than 20,000 people are expected to visit the island for the event. The sand castles will be built from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Judging will begin at 3 p.m. and the awards ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m. The event is free. Parking at the beach is $10 per car. Galveston is also featuring the return of its popular Movie Nite at The Strand and Music Nite on The Strand. For more information, visit www.aiasandcastle.com or www.galveston.com.
