19-year-old arrested in Grapevine on suspicion of sexually assaulting young girls

A 19-year-old man was behind bars Monday in Grapevine on suspicion that he had sex with two young girls - one as young as 13 - whom he befriended and then seduced, Grapevine police said Monday.

Grapevine police say they believe that there could be other underage girls that may have had sex with the man.

"We'll be conducting more interviews this week," Grapevine police Lt. Todd Dearing said Monday.

Police arrested Michael H. Waldner at his Grapevine apartment Wednesday after investigators interviewed the 13-year-old girl.

Waldner is expected to be charged with aggravated sexual assault and sexual assault of a child, police said Monday.

Waldner was in the Grapevine Jail Monday in lieu of $40,000.

He is accused of having sex with the 13-year-old and a 14-year-old girl.

Police began an investigation a few days ago when the father of the 13-year-old girl alerted authorities.

The father told police that he had found out that his daughter had been "dating" Waldner and warned him in an email to stay away.

"He responded that he would stay away," Dearing said.

But on May 8, Waldner and the 13-year-old attended a party in Grapevine, police said Monday. Waldner is accused of having sex with the 13-year-old at the party, police said.

The girl's father found out about it and came to police on May 10.

"It wasn't forced, but it's illegal," Dearing said referring to the sexual assault charges.

During the investigation, police determined that Waldner also had "dated" a 14-year-old girl this year. He's accused of having sex with that girl, police said.
