On any day, visiting the Fort Worth Stockyards can be like traveling back in time. But the place is never more rustic than it is during the district's annual Frontier Forts Days. Friday and Saturday, Exchange Avenue will be filled with encampments from historic forts along the Texas Forts Trail and across the state. You can see artillery and infantry firing demonstrations, military parades, live music, and American Indian dance programs. And amid the cannons, rifles, wagons and flags, re-enactors will be on hand to talk about life on the frontier.
The opening bugle sounds at 9:55 a.m. Friday; check the Stockyards Station website for a schedule of events.
