TXU Energy launched three residential electric plans based on 100 percent wind energy Monday.
The retail electric provider, the largest in Texas with 2.2 million customers, also unveiled a new logo and said it is adopting a marketing campaign that will include TV, radio, print, online and outdoor advertising.
The wind plans are for one year, 14 months and two years. Rates range from 11.6 cents per kilowatt hour for a customer using 2,000 kw-h a month under the 14-month plan, to 13.4 cents for a customer using 500 kw-h a month under the two-year plan.
The plans also offer a 3 percent cash-back benefit. TXU also said company customers may receive a $50 credit on their bill for referring a friend who signs up with TXU, and the friend also gets a $50 credit. The maximum benefit could be $599 annually and "we are working on expanding that limit," spokeswoman Sophia Stoller said.
