Tarrant County College's Southeast Campus was evacuated this morning after a smell similar to natural gas started flowing through the building's ventilation system.
After investigating the cause, TCC officials determined it was caused by a tractor working outside the building that spilled hydraulic fluid about 9:30 a.m.
"It apparently smells similar to natural gas and with these strong winds we're having, it blew into the ventialation system," said TCC spokeswoman Donna Darovich.Students were notified by TCC's Campus Cruiser system that sends a message directly to cellphones or email addresses, Darovich said.
Due to the lingering smell, the campus won't reopen until 5 p.m. for evening classes.
