Taste of the island
You don't have to travel to Northern California for a food and wine festival. Just head to the Texas coast for the inaugural Galveston Island Food and Wine Festival, April 16-17. The festival will feature wines from South America with Latin music and entertainment. Visitors can also sample chocolate, cheese and other food from local restaurants, in addition to American wines.
On April 16, there will be two levels of wine tasting; a ticket for the general tasting is $45 in advance, $60 on the day of the event. The premium wine tasting is $65 in advance, $75 on the day of the event. Tickets include a commemorative souvenir glass, entertainment and a chance to win door prizes, in addition to Saturday night wine-pairing dinner discounts at area restaurants. Proceeds will benefit Galveston charities. For more information, call 409-762-6676. You can purchase tickets and make reservations at the Tremont House hotel by visiting www.Galveston.com/FoodAndWine.
