Sylvia Day thought it would be difficult to say goodbye.
The author devoted five years of her life to writing about Gideon Cross and Eva Trammel’s white-hot whirlwind romance in her bestselling “Crossfire” series. But now that novel No. 5, One With You, which comes out Tuesday, closes the book on their story, Day is OK with moving on.
“Gideon and Eva have reached the point where they don’t need my help anymore,” she says. “I’ve ushered them through to their happily-ever-after. Anything else that needs to be done, only they can do it.”
Actually, there is a little more for Day to do: a Dallas book tour visit.

She’ll be at the Angelika Film Center & Cafe (5321 E. Mockingbird Lane in Dallas) at 7 p.m. Thursday. VIP tickets are sold out, but $20 general admission tickets are still available.
The series opened with 2012’s Bared to You. Eva, a new hire at a New York advertising agency, was crawling across the floor, helping another woman who had spilled the contents of her coin purse, when she met billionaire Gideon Cross and was stunned by his “exquisite masculinity.”
As for how their story will end, our lips are sealed. We promised Day that we’d reveal nothing.
Coming next from Day is a new series introducing Kane and Lily and a love story that spans many years. There’s a seven-page sneak peek of So Close, the first installment of the “Blacklist” series, in the back of One With You.
“I’m extremely excited about ‘Blacklist,’ ” the author says. “Now that I’m finished with Gideon and Eva, it will be good to spend time with characters that do need my help.”
