Here’s what’s new in bookstores this week:
▪ The Total Package by Stephanie Evanovich (Willam Morrow, $26.99) — The bestselling author (Big Girl Panties) tries her hand at sports romance with the story of star quarterback Tyson Palmer on the comeback trail after an addiction to painkillers (and partying). Enter Dani Carr, a woman from Tyson’s past. She’s now a commentator on an inevitable collision course with Tyson, who has the Austin Mavericks thinking Super Bowl.
▪ Clawback by J.A. Jance (Touchstone, $25.95) — The bestselling author offers the 11th thriller in her series featuring Ali Reynolds, the ex-newscaster from Sedona, Ariz. This one is personal. Ali’s parents have invested their retirement into what turns out to be a Ponzi scheme. When her father goes to confront his adviser and friend, he’s found dying — leaving Ali’s father as the prime suspect and sending her to prove his innocence.
▪ Crazy Blood by T. Jefferson Parker (St. Martin’s Press, $26.99) — The award-winning and bestselling author (Storm Runners, The Fallen) examines a family feud within the Carson clan that’s set in the ski resort town of Mammoth Lakes in California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains. It focuses on half-brothers Wylie and Sky (both gifted skiers), who take their bitter sibling rivalry onto the ski slopes to vie for the Mammoth Cup.
