Here’s what’s new in bookstores this week:
▪ All Dressed in White by Mary Higgins Clark and Alafair Burke (Simon & Schuster, $26.99) — The bestselling co-authors (2014’s The Cinderella Murder) present their second “Under Suspicion” mystery. TV producer Laurie Moran takes on the cold case of the so-called Runaway Bride, who vanished five years ago the day before her wedding. Actress Jan Maxwell again narrates the audiobook (Simon & Schuster Audio, $29.99).
▪ Crimson Shore by Preston & Child (Grand Central Publishing, $27) — The bestselling writing team offers the 15th thriller in their Special Agent Pendergast series. Pendergast is hired to solve the theft of a valuable wine collection in the village of Exmouth, Mass., but there’s also a skeleton, shipwreck, the Salem witch trials and a haunting to deal with. Actor Rene Auberjonois again narrates the audiobook (Hachette Audio, $40).
▪ The Mare by Mary Gaitskill (Pantheon, $26.95) — The author follows her National Book Award-finalist Veronica with a story about a girl and a horse that makes a difference in her life. Velvet, an 11-year-old Dominican girl from Brooklyn, is given a chance to spend two weeks in the summer with a couple at their upstate New York farm. Velvet connects with her troubled hostess and Fiery Girl, a mare who has issues of her own.
