With Christmas just two days away and New Year’s Eve on the immediate horizon, I decided to take a look this week at a product that claims to give users a warm holiday glow.
Available for $45 at Nordstrom (www.nordstrom.com), Bobbi Brown’s Limited Edition Shimmer Brick in Copper Diamond is a powder highlighter that can be applied to the tops of cheekbones or even to eyelids as an eyeshadow.
Described on the Bobbi Brown website as a warm, golden hue, it is designed for all skin stones and promises to add just the right amount of sparkle to your holiday look. Having only tried cream and liquid highlighters before, I was curious to see how a powder version would stack up.
I was also interested to see whether the product would give me a nice glow or leave me looking like I got attacked by a jar of glitter.

Just like most of the items in the Bobbi Brown holiday collection, this highlighter comes housed in a beautiful tortoiseshell compact rimmed in gold. Lightweight and sturdy, the square compact is made from what I assume is plastic. When I popping it open, the compact revealed a large mirror that seemed perfect for touch-ups.
In its pan, the Shimmer Brick looks like sparkly, layered sand. If you are familiar with Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer Brick highlighters, then you know that each shade is actually made up of five different shades.
For Copper Diamond, the five warm, shimmery shades range from a peachy gold to a frosty pink. When swirled together, these shades form a pretty color that I can only describe as a golden champagne with a hint of rose gold.
I swatched the product on my hand and found that the highlighter was very pigmented and applied smoothly. All in all, my first impression was rather pleasant.
Fab or flub?
Fab! The perfect way to add a subtle hint of sparkle to your holiday look, Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer Brick in Copper Diamond leaves behind a gorgeous, natural sheen without making you look like you’ve been slapped by a fairy.
As I said above, the highlighter has great pigmentation and blends beautifully with the use of a regular blush brush. While I had initially intended to use the Shimmer Brick mostly as a holiday staple, I found it had a nice warm glow that’s well-suited to everyday looks, too.
Some days I wear it by itself and others, I layered it under my blush. For those who are interested in purchasing the highlighter, I suggest doing so before the holidays are over. The Shimmer Brick shade is limited edition, so it won’t be around much longer.
