Last year, we told you about rival ugly-Christmas-sweater stores called Ugly Christmas Sweater Shop and That Ugly Christmas Sweater Store. The trouble was that, if you lived in Tarrant or Collin County, you had to drive all the way to Dallas to participate in this holiday hideousness.
Sure, Fort Worth has the online retailer theuglysweatershop.com, but it’s not quite the same as a temporary brick-and-mortar shop where you can actually try on the tacky and the trashy.
Now, Jeremy Turner, the guy behind Ugly Christmas Sweater Shop, is expanding with new locations set for Frisco (opening Nov. 22) and Fort Worth (opening date not set yet).
The Tarrant store will be at 3020 Seventh St., Suite 240, in Fort Worth, while the Frisco shop is at 3301 Preston Road, Suite 7. Fore more information on the Fort Worth store, go here and for more information on the Frisco store, go here.

In a Facebook message, Turner said that he hopes the Fort Worth store will be open “very soon. Hopefully by Black Friday.”
He’s looking for employees to staff this location, so if anyone out there thinks they have what it takes to peddle the garish garb, let him know. He said, “it isn’t easy finding people who are like Buddy the Elf!,” referring to the Will Ferrell character in the movie Elf.
Turner began in the trade by selling horrible holiday sweaters out of a bus. That mushroomed into his seasonal shop and now it’s “shops” plural.
He is running a social-media contest: Take a picture of his 1983 AMC Concord station wagon with a Christmas tree on top, post it to Instagram using #UglyChristmasSweaterShop, and you might win a trip in the car to NorthPark to visit Santa Claus.
The Dallas Ugly Christmas Sweater Shop, at 6333 E. Mockingbird Lane, opens Wednesday. All of the stores will be open through Dec. 24.
