EAST MACHIAS, Maine -- Ron Paul has gained 83 votes on Mitt Romney after a Republican presidential caucus in eastern Maine, where a snowstorm postponed voting last week. Romney still holds a 156-vote lead over Paul in statewide totals.
Paul, of Lake Jackson, received 163 votes in Saturday's Washington County caucus, where Republicans from more than two dozen towns voted. Romney received 80 votes, Rick Santorum 57 and Newt Gingrich four.
The Maine Republican Party declared Romney the winner of the state's GOP caucuses last week, but Washington County Republicans were angered that their votes weren't counted.
County Chairman Chris Gardner said the state party should include the caucus tally in the final results.
