At a time when everybody is feverishly trying to sign up for summer camps and activities, I am at a loss on what to do with my five-year-old son.
My daughter, who is 9, is part of Girl Scouts and so she sells hundreds of boxes of cookies so she can go to camp for free and then sign up for a few one-day activities that are offered in the area. So she is taken care of.
But since my son is not involved in Cub Scouts (and we don't plan for him to be part of it either...don't ask...long story...), I am looking around for things for him to do this summer. I don't want to sign him up for sports since he is already in T-ball until early June. And we already have swimming lessons for both kids set.
What I'm looking for are activities that might be one-day sessions or half-day one-week programs that are non-sports. I know Zoo camp is a possibility and I will probably check the Science museum but I also have a budget as well. I just don't want him to feel left out while his sister gets to do cool things this summer.
We used to live in Arlington and the rec centers offered great art and one-time programs during the summer for kids. Now that we've moved to north Fort Worth, I'm at a loss at where to start. Any help from the Mom2Mom folks would be great.
