Review: How to train your Dragon

Who knew dragons could be so loveable? Based on the 2003 children's novel by British author Cressida Cowell, "How to Train your Dragon" is a coming of age story about a young Viking boy's (Hiccup) quest to win the approval of his father and tribe by slaying a dragon. While searching for a dragon he's injured during battle, Hiccup finds that there's more to the fire-breathing creatures than he could have ever imagined.

Why parents will like it:
Not only is this movie entertaining but many lessons can be discussed with kids including tolerance and having an open mind to things that we don't always understand. Oh and none of the dragons sound like Chipmunks.

Why kids will like it: Incredible animation, non-stop action and an imaginative variety of dragons will have them on the edge of their seats.

Good to know:
The intensity of the main dragon and some of the fight scenes might be a bit much for the little ones.

Hit or miss?
Our movie-going crew of two moms, two 7-year-old girls, a 4-year-old girl and boy give it 12 enthusiastic thumbs up.
