Timberview High student killed in 1-vehicle wreck

GRAND PRAIRIE -- A Timberview High School student died today from injuries he suffered in a one-vehicle wreck Monday in south Grand Prairie.

Raymond Collins, 17, was pronounced dead shortly after noon at Parkland Memorial Hospital.

Collins was a passenger in a 2000 Acura TL sedan that crashed into a utility pole in the 7300 block of Arlington Webb Britton Road and South Grand Peninsula Drive, a news release said.

Police said the driver, a 16-year-old Timberview High School student, was taken to Dallas Methodist Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

The driver lost control of his vehicle, went into a spin, left the roadway and crashed into the utility pole.
