IRVING -- Don’t dawdle in a convenience store line, you could end up in a fight.
A 48-year-old Irving man told police that’s what happened to him shortly after 6:30 p.m. Saturday at a store near Nursery and Shady Grove roads.
The man told police that he was cashing his check when another customer became impatient with him, police said. The two exchanged words, police said.
The two went outside and the Irving man was punched several times, police said.

At some point, the victim started to run across the street, police said. The attacker jumped into a pickup and tried to run over the victim, police said.
The Irving man ran into his business, pulled out a handgun and went outside to confront the other man.
By then, police had arrived and arrested a 35-year-old man also from Irving.
No serious injuries were reported.
