A 20-year-old Everman man died Tuesday after he was thrown from the back of a pickup truck a day earlier on Texas 360 just south of Interstate 20.
Raylon Perkins was using his weight to hold down a mattress on the back of the pickup early Monday evening when a gust of wind flipped the mattress.
It is unclear how fast the truck was traveling on the Texas 360 and high the mattress flipped but Perkins struck his head on the pavement, police said.
Perkins was taken by air ambulance to Methodist Dallas Medical Center Monday evening for his injuries. He died Tuesday at 12:35 p.m. The driver of the truck, Terriel Scanterbury of Euless, was cited for having an unsecured load, driving with an invalid license, and for not having insurance.
