Officials inspecting two suspicious fires in Kennedale

KENNEDALE -- Authorities are investigating two suspicious fires that occurred within days of each other in the 6800 block of West Oak Crest Drive.

Between 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, firefighters were called to a house fire, said Jay Hinkle, Kennedale fire marshal. When firefighters arrived at the house, they found it engulfed in flames, Hinkle said.

The house was vacated about a week ago and no utilities were on inside, Hinkle said.

About 8:30 p.m. Monday, firefighters put out a trailer fire behind the house. The trailer was also vacant and without utilities, Hinkle said.

Both fires are under investigation, and arson has not been ruled out as a cause of the fires, Hinkle said.

Anyone with information regarding either of these fires is asked to call the Kennedale Fire Marshal's office at 817-561-2237, Hinkle said.
