Witnesses told police that the man was driving a 1989 Cadillac without lights when he changed lanes in front of an 18-wheeler. The truck hit the car, knocking it 200 to 300 feet and causing it to burst into flames, police said. The truck driver was not injured.
The truck driver and other motorist tried to pull Martinez out, but the flames were too intense, police said.
