A 19-year-old man died late Sunday in Coppell when the pickup he was driving crashed through a fence and landed in a swimming pool, police said.
The driver, Adam Hartwick of Coppell, was identified by the Tarrant County medical examiner's office, which handles fatalities for Denton County, where Coppell is located.
Police and firefighters were called 11:23 p.m. to a home in the 800 block of Leslie Street where a 2001 Dodge Dakota had crashed through a wooden privacy fence and landed in a backyard pool.
"Minutes later, Emergency Services personnel arrived and found the vehicle upside down in the pool," said Lt. Steve Thomas, police spokesman.

Only the truck's tires were above the surface, Thomas said.
Emergency personnel and the homeowner tried to rescue Hartwick, "but mechanical equipment was ultimately necessary to extricate him," Thomas said.
Hartwick, Thomas said, was rushed to Medical Center of Lewisville, but he couldn't be saved.
The police department's Fatality Accident Team was still investigating the crash on Monday, Thomas said.
