Eastbound travelers on Interstate 20 will encounter a detour nearly 70 miles east of Dallas while highway workers fix a bridge support that was damaged Monday in a wreck involving tractor-trailer rigs, officials said.
Two big rigs hit a bridge support Monday morning at Turner Hayden Road near Wills Point, according to reports.
The area is about eight miles west of Canton and about 60 miles east of Dallas.
To follow the detour around the area, exit onto the I-20 service road and re-enter the interstate just afer the bridge, said Larry Krantz, spokesman for the Texas Department of Transportation in Tyler.

One of the closed lanes might reopen Wednesday afternoon at the earliest, Krantz said.
He noted, however, that the lane closest to the damaged bridge support will likely be shut down for awhile until the repair work is finished.
"Certainly it won't be next week or even the week after," Krantz said.
TxDOT officials hope travelers won't be inconvenienced longer than a few minutes, Krantz said.
"One thing we don't want to do is compromise safety in the name of expedience," Krantz said.
