A 16-month-old boy was critically injured Wednesday when his mother apparently ran over him with her Chevrolet Tahoe, according to authorities. The child was struck shortly before 2 p.m. while he was playing in the driveway of a residence in the 6400 block of Vintage Lake Drive.
Preliminary information is that the mother of the child left the residence around 1:50 p.m., police said. The father and siblings were in the residence. Within a few minutes the family found the child in the driveway, police said.
The father picked the child up and drove him toward the Arlington Fire Station on Little Road while the siblings called 911, police said. A helicopter ambulance landed near Perkins and Pleasant Ridge roads and took the child to Cook Children's Medical Center.
The condition of the child is not available at this time.
