The body of a man was found floating in the Trinity River on Monday near Interstate 45 and Overton Road in Dallas, and detectives believe that the remains might have been in the water at least a week.
After a DART train operator and a passenger reported seeing a body, Dallas Fire Rescue personnel launched boats and found the man, said Lt. Vernon Hale, a Dallas police spokesman. He was believed to be a white or Latin male with tattoos on his body.
The man had on light-colored clothing, but the initial reports described a body in dark clothing, so the firefighters continued searching for several hours to ensure that there was not a second body in the river, Hale said. Homicide detectives are awaiting a ruling by the Dallas County Medical Examiner on a cause of death.
