Aledo 6-year-old heads home after brain surgery

Jessie Hall, the 6-year-old who underwent surgery in Baltimore to remove half of her brain, headed home to Aledo on Thursday.

After undergoing a hemispherectomy June 11 at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, Jessie returned to Fort Worth in July for rehabilitation at Cook Children’s Medical Center. Jessie had the surgery to treat a rare condition called Rasmussen’s encephalitis, which was destroying part of her brain and causing severe seizures.

Rehabilitation was needed to help her regain some of her strength before returning home.
