Arlington police are searching for a man who pulled a knife on an officer early Thursday.
About 1:45 a.m., officer Matt Simmons, 35, saw a man behind a building in the 3200 block of Dalworth Street, east of Six Flags Mall. When Simmons asked the man for identification, the man pulled a knife and slashed the officer's uniform across the chest and forearm, according to Lt. Blake Miller, Arlington police spokesman.
The officer suffered minor cuts on the forearm and chest and was sent to the hospital as a precaution, Miller said. The ballistic vest worn by Simmons kept him from being more seriously injured, Miller said.
Simmons disarmed the suspect during a fight and the suspect may have suffered a broken arm and some eye injuries during the fight, police said. The man ran to a wooded area and escaped.
