FORT WORTH -- A teenage girl killed Monday morning in Lakeside when her car drifted into oncoming traffic and was struck by an oncoming one-ton dually pickup has been identified as Crystal Guevara, 16, of Azle.
Tarrant County Chief Deputy Jay Six said investigators are still unclear what caused Guevara’s Cadillac to coast into the eastbound lanes of Confederate Park Road as she drove west about 8:20 a.m. Monday.
“The investigator spoke to a witness yesterday who said that inexplicably, the Cadillac just drifted over in the eastbound lanes,” Six said. “As they rounded the curve, she just slipped to the left a little bit.”
Six said the driver of the pickup, a Haslet man, had no time to react before colliding with the Cadillac head-on.

“There just wasn’t the opportunity. There wasn’t any warning,” Six said.
The man was taken to a hospital by his wife, where he was treated for his injuries and released, Six said.
Kelly Richey, who taught Guevara sophomore English at North Side High School, said the teen had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing in choir.
