A 47-year-old Tarrant County man was killed Wednesday morning in a TxDOT construction accident outside Austin, the man’s employer said.
Police officials said during a bridge demolition project on Texas 95 over the Colorado River, a metal support beam from the old bridge broke loose, hitting a manlift and pulling a crane into the river.
The manlift, where two men were working, fell an estimated 75 feet, according to police officials.
The 47-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead on the scene. He worked for Stomper Demolition of Euless, said company spokesman Ray Tupper.

The other man in the basket had non-life-threatening injuries, including a broken leg, and was taken by air ambulance to a local hospital, officials said.
The crane was independently owned but was operated by Stomper Demolition workers.
Police and Occupational Safety and Health Administration officials are investigating, a police spokesman said.
