Fire ravages house near Dallas Zoo

A fire severely damaged a house in south Dallas Thursday morning, said Lt. Joel Lavender, spokesman for Dallas Fire-Rescue.

Flames were leaping from the roof the home in the 3900 block of Fernwood, just blocks from the Dallas Zoo.

Video on KDFW Channel 4 showed firefighters arriving at the house at about 7:30 a.m. with the center of the white frame house fully involved. Flames and heavy smoke were coming from the house.

Once the flames were extinguished the interior of the house was clearly destroyed and the roof of the house was gone.

It is not known if the house was occupied.
