Euless man's body found in Grand Prairie pond

GRAND PRAIRIE — A Euless man may have drowned in a pond while fishing Monday near Joe Pool Lake, according to preliminary police reports.

The body of Stephen Guiry, 42, was recovered from an overflow retention pond next to the lake, said Detective John Brimmer, police spokesman.

Police received a call just after 8:30 p.m. Monday from a passerby walking near the 5400 block of Robinson Road, police said. The area is on the north side of the lake near the dam.

Investigators located Guiry's fishing gear and vehicle, Brimmer said. The Dallas County medical examiner's office will determine the exact cause of death.

Meanwhile, Brimmer said, "The cause of death appeared to be drowning."

There were no reports of witnesses.

"There was no indication he had anybody with him," Brimmer said.
