A suspicious object that prompted the evacuation of the Shops at Willow Bend Friday afternoon was a harmless briefcase, police said.
Part of the mall parking lot, located in the 6100 block of Park Boulevard near Macy's, was blocked off as the bomb squad responded to the report, police said.
A robot was used to examine the object at 1 p.m. Officers subsequently determined it was a briefcase with nothing dangerous inside, said Officer Rick McDonald, police spokesman.
A man who made a business call at the mall forgot it, and he informed police when he heard it was being examined, McDonald said.
