Two children die in Coppell drowning incident

Two children, ages 3 and 1, have died from a drowning incident Tuesday evening at their family's home in Coppell, police said.

Marcus Stocco, 3, was pronounced dead Tuesday evening at Medical Center of Lewisville, according to a police report.

His 1-year-old sister, Catherine, was pronounced dead 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Medical City Children's Hospital in Dallas, said Lt. Steve Thomas of the Coppell Police Department.

Emergency crews were summoned at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday to the family's home in the 100 block of Trinity Court.

"Upon arrival, emergency services responders learned that a father had found his two young children submerged in the bottom of the family pool, with both being unresponsive at his attempts to revive them," police said in their report.

The children's father was at home during the incident, but Thomas declined to discuss where he was before he found the children in the pool.

"We need to ferret that out with some more interviewing," he said. "We're not going to be giving out a whole lot of information.

"Emotions are running high, not only with the family, but with people on the periphery. We have to do every due diligence."
