The wreck happened about a mile south of Hemphill Street's intersection with West Berry Street.
Gonzalez, Bangs said was driving a green Suburban that was northbound on Hemphill when he lost control.
The vehicle struck a gate-door to parking lot and Gonzalez was partially ejected.
Police believe he was speeding, Bangs said. He added that a toxicology report will determine if he had also been drinking.
