Fire destroyed or damaged at least four units of a south Arlington apartment complex late Wednesday, but no one was injured.
Firefighters got the call about 8:15 p.m., and it quickly went to three alarms, said Battalion Chief Randy Schmelz. Firefighters were still investigating what started the fire in the 900 block of Garden Grove Drive, in the Shadow Brook Apartment Complex late Wednesday.
Delores Dunn-Sunler, who lives near the building that was burning, said she came outside when she saw the first two fire trucks pass her apartment. Flames were leaping 20 feet in the air, frightening her grandchildren, she said. Firefighters were also trying to locate any displaced renters at the apartment complex, so officials could determine whether they needed help, Schmelz said.
