A gunman robbed the Fiesta Grocery 9 p.m. Tuesday, 1000 W. Berry Street in Fort Worth, police said.

The man, who wore dark blue pants and a dark hooded sweatshirt, walked into the store and asked to buy a single can of beer, but the cashier said they didn't have any, said Lt. Paul Henderson, police spokesman.

He then asked to buy a pack of cigarettes and handed the clerk money, Henderson said in a news release.

But when the cash register opened, the man pulled out a handgun and demanded all the cash.

"The cashier complied," Henderson said. "The man then left the store with an undetermined amount of cash."

Robbery detectives were trying to retrieve surveillance video images of the robbery, Henderson said.

Meanwhile, anyone with information about the incident can call robbery detectives at 817-392-4370 or Crime Stoppers at 817-469-TIPS.

All calls are confidential and information leading to an arrest could result in a $1,000 reward, Henderson said.
